Pueraria for diarrhea?

Here’s a simple way to look at it:

1. Cold diarrhea: use Pueraria (葛根) alone.
2. Hot diarrhea (usually damp-heat): use Pueraria, Scutellaria and Coptis Decoction (葛根芩连汤).

For “cold” diarrhea, there’s an example given by my teacher Mr. Zhao (赵老师) of this newborn kid constantly having diarrhea – bowel movement 30 times a day. After countless visits to various institutions, she tried a method suggested by a chinese doc: mum drinks pueraria decoction, kid gets it via breastfeeding. Kid’s diarrhea abates then stops.
