Uterine fibroids: why progesterone treatment may fail

By admin • Jun 7th, 2007 • Category: Uncategorized, Women

Here’s a summary from Elizabeth Smith’s site:

1. not avoiding estrogens. here are ways that people expose themselves to estrogen:

  • eating food that has been microwaved with a plastic wrap
  • coffee (a known phytoestrogen)
  • laundry detergent that contains alky phenols that mimic estrogen
  • cosmetic or skin creams that contain methyl paraben, propyl paraben or butyl paraben
  • xenoestrogens stored in body fat (solution: saunas?)

2. inability of patient to absorb natural progesterone via the skin (solution: oral treatment)

3. wrongly formulated natural progesterone creams (solution: get the correct one!)

Elizabeth Smith also speaks of why usage of progesterone may cause your condition to worsen. She reasons that this is due to estrogen overload which desensitizes your estrogen receptors to estrogen, hence limiting absorption. She again reasons that use of progesterone normalizes the receptors’ sensitivity and all the estrogen overload symptoms appear again e.g. bloating and sore breasts.
