lady comes in with a case of hemiparesis - incomplete paralysis of one side of the body - due to stroke. she could raise her arm with difficulty, and felt pain when needled. she had come because of a hemorrhage.

stroke happens when cells is part of the brain do not get oxygen and die. and this is because of a disruption in blood flow. her hemorrhage was probably intracerebral i.e. an artery bursts in the brain and floods the surrounding brain tissue with blood. this was probably due of HBP (high blood pressure).

typically, the yangming meridians are tonified. today, the heart meridian of the hands were used to, but the needles were taken out quickly so that the yangming meridians could be concentrated upon.
