太阳病,发热汗出,恶风,脉缓者,名为中风。(line 2)
Translated: In a Greater Yang disease, it’s called a Wind Strike when the following are present:
In the modern textbooks, we are taught that the Wind Strike pattern happens to people who have loose muscular interstices (腠理疏松). People with this kind of constitution – or who are at a point in the disease process where such is true – will allow the Wind pathogen to infiltrate via the loose muscular interstices.
The perspiration and the loose muscular interstices are two connectable events. Loose muscular interstices will allow the sweat to pass through. Often though, this can be a road block for beginners attempting to diagnose a Wind Strike pattern. More on this later.
It not unreasonable to associated such people with membraneous barriers – especially those of the upper respiratory tract – that are easily compromised.
