Hemostatic Herbs and Formulas
First master the eight (8) hemostatics that also cool blood (凉血止血药). They are useful in treating hemorrhage due to heat in the blood.
While they all have the function, some have more specific areas they treat:
- daji, baimaogen and baimaogen are broad hemostatics
- huaihua and diyu are very good for blood in the stool
- cebaiye is also astringent
- zhumagen is also for calming the fetus.
Looking at blood in the stool
Just looking at huahuasan and huaijiaowan, we get a sense of how blood in stool is treated:
